Four in-laws arrested over torturing house wife to death

Taltali police of Barguna district arrested four in-laws over torturing house wife Hanufa Aktar, 20, to death for dowry in Lemua under Aila-Patakata union of Barguna Sadar upazila on early Saturday.
Mizanur Rahman, Taltali police station officer in charge, said Abdul Majid Fakir, father in-law, Halima Begum, mother in-law, Khalil Fakir, Jalil Fakir, brothers in-law , were arrested in this connection after severe injury signs were found on the dead body of Halima.
Police recovering the dead body sent to Barguna general hospital morgue for autopsy and arrested four in-laws to court on Saturday.
Azam Khan Faruki, Barguna Sadar police station officer in charge, told Rafez Uddin Haoladar, father of the victim, as complainant lodged a case in this connection against the husband and in-laws with this police station on Saturday noon.
Rafez Uddin Haoladar of Kabiraj Para under Taltali police station and father of the victim told about 18 months ago his daughter Hanufa was married to Al-Amin, a truck driver and son of Majid Fakir of Lemua under Aila-Patakata union of Barguna Sadar upazila.
Since marriage Hanufa became subject to torture for dowry by her husband and in-laws as her poor parents failed to fulfill the demanded dowry.
Hanufa fleeing from the house of in-laws took shelter at her paternal home in February 2014.
About three weeks ago husband Al-Amin brought-back Hanufa to his home giving assurance not to torture.
However the husband and in-laws again started torture on Hanufa and she was admitted at Barguna general hospital on April 13 in senseless condition due to torture.
From there tortured Hanufa was sent to Barisal Sher E Bangla medical College Hospital after her condition deteriorated on April 14.
Hanufa succumbed to her injuries at Barisal SBMCH on April 18 night and in laws brought her dead body to her paternal home claiming that Hanufa died at hospital following her sickness.
However during bathing the dead body severe injury signs were found on that and the parents of the victim informed police on early Saturday.
