Shah Rukh Khan’s police protection removed

Shahrukh KhanMumbai: Superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s police protection removed after a recent review by authorities concluded that he no longer faces any threat. Until 10 days ago, eight constables from the Mumbai police’s Protection and Security Branch used to guard him in two shifts.

In 2008, after the Indian Mujahideen sent an email to news channels, threatening to attack King Khan and three other celebrities, Mumbai Police’s Protection was guarding SRK in two shifts.

While later in 2010, there were intelligence reports of fresh threats against Khan which led the authorities to maintain the security, though the number of policemen was reduced to half.

But the superstar’s cop cover was removed post a review by authorities that at currently he is not facing any threat. According to the sources, SRK’s Wankhede episode and scuffle with film-maker Shirish Kunder had also resulted in the decision.

However, the police stated that Khan’s cover has been negated since no reports suggest a threat, they claim that if threats arise, they will reconsider.
