School boy killed in road accident

jhalakathi-news-map Jhalakathi News MapA school boy killed after crushed under wheels of a ‘Tomtom’, locally assembled tempo, at Barisal Sher E Bangla Medical College on Friday evening.

The victim was identified as Md. Zakaria, 6, student of class-1 at Kundupasha primary school and son of Jahangir Mallik of Kundupasha under Nalcity upazila of Jhalakathi district.

Abu Mallik, uncle of the victim, said Zakaria while going near Mallikbari Bailey bridge on foot a Tomtom crushing him fled from the scene at about 5:30 PM Friday.

Family members and local people rescuing him brought to Barisal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital in critical condition.

The boy was declared as dead soon after brought to SBMCH at 6:30 PM, said Dr. Muzahidul Islam, emergency medical officer told.

A case would be lodged in this connection by Nalcity police station if the guardians of the victim allowed to postmortem the dead body, he said.
