Two journalist sent to jail for alleged demanding toll in Patuakhali

A court in Patuakhali rejecting bail prayer of two accused journalists ordered to sent them to jail on Tuesday.
The accused two were Sanjoy Kumar Das, Patuakhali District Correspondent of Desh Telivision, BD News 24 and Bangladesh Protidin and Jalilur Rahman Jalil, Patuakhali District Correspondent of Machhranga Television.
Court sources said Hasan Al Mamun, assistant engineer of roads and highways department Patuakhali, lodged a case on April 25, 2014 with Patuakhali Sadar police station against those two journalists and unnamed 5/6 accused for alleged demanding toll and attacking the office.
Sub Inspector Azharuddin, investigation officer of the case, filed charge sheet against the two journalists on July 31 after investigation.
According to that journalists Sanjoy and Jalil appearing before the court on Tuesday prayed for bail.
The accused journalists denying the allegations claimed that they became target of corrupted R and H officials during collecting information about misappropriating money by selling scarps of Bailey bridge to the firms with false addresses.
However Tapan Kumar Roy, senior judicial magistrate of Patuakhali, rejecting the bail prayer ordered to send the two journalists to jail.
The next date of the case fixed as August 28, 2014, court sources said.
