Hartal under way in Barisal only stopping long route vehicles

barisal-map-english Barisal MapThe one-day shutdown called by the BNP-led 20-party alliance protesting 16th amendment of constitution for returning judge’s impeachment power to the parliament observing loosely and peacefully in Barisal on Monday.

Pro-hartal activists brought out sudden processions (Jhatika Michhil) in different areas of the city on early morning.

City BNP president and central organising secretary Advocate Mojibor Rahman Sarwar during leading a Hartal picketing at Kawnia-Sadar Road area told that the 20-party alliance believes in peaceful political movement to save the sovereignty of judiciary and the country from anarchy of one-party rule.

Mass awareness would be created soon through an upsurge of people to arrange a free fair election under non-political caretaker government for ousting this autocratic ruler, Sarwar vowed.

However except suspension of long route road transports, other types of communications including water transportation functioning normally with less number of passengers.

Big showrooms, shops, commercial areas were closed, transactions in financial institutions, attendances in educational institutions, judicial, administrative offices were less than normal days in Barisal on Thursday.

Law enforcing agencies patrolling on city roads to control any situation, told Shakhawat Hossain, Kotwali police station in charge.
