Blockade-Hartal destroying the country’s potentiality: Muhith

Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith said the ongoing blockade and hartal is destroying the “country’s potentiality”. All activities is affected by the ongoing blockade and hartal.

Finance Minister said, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is destroying the peace and disrupting development. People will reject them in their own interest, therefore there is no need to enact any law to ban hartals, he said.

Muhith said the country’s agriculture sector saw a revolution but difficulties in transporting goods due to the blockade have been taking a toll on the sector.

BNP chief Begum Khaleda Zia should now stop these acts. Government has taken strong steps to offset these disorders and terrorist activities. If needed, it would act in a tougher way in future,” he said.

The minister said this while speaking as the chief guest at a gathering after formally laying foundation stone of ‍”Sadhinota (Independence) Museum” at banglabazar under Sadar upazila in the district on Friday afternoon.

Also addressed, among others by Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, Former chairman Board of Investment Mokammel Huq, Secretary General of JP Ziya Uddin Bablu MP, Abdul Lotif MP.District council administrator Abdul Momin Tulu presided over the function.

Earlier, the minister inaugurated ‍the annual sports competition of Fazilatunnesa womens Government College at Bhola as the Chief Guest.
