Barisal duck breeding farm turns to cattle grazing ground as the structures

The structures, equipments and land worth Tk 40 core of duck breeding farm at Goriar Par area of the city now turns to a grazing ground of cattle and other domestic animals after it remained abandoned for years. The staffs and officials also remained absence as salaries of 18 also became arrear since last five years. After visiting the spot and talking with livestock department it was learnt that the ‘regional duck breeding farm’ was established on four acres of land at the cost of Tk 40 core on 2003 in the regime of BNP-led government. More than 21 candidates vie for per seat of Barisal University

Average more than 21 candidates vie for per seat of Barisal University and intake test would be held in three shifts on October 18 for the 2014-15 academic session. A total of 32,372 students registered for this year’s test in the university – the fourth since its establishment – against 1,535 seats, said, Faisal Mahmud Rumi, public relation officer of the university. Unidentified miscreants on Saturday damaged idols in a Durga Puja temple of Hindu community at Kawmia area of Barisal divisional city. Bikash Haldar, secretary of Aparajita Kunja Durga Puja Mandir, said electricians of the Mandir when went at the temple on Saturday afternoon for decoration of the temple, found that hands of the idols of Durga and Ganesh and head of Kartik were damaged and broken.
