750 Kg VGF rice seized in Bhola

Police seized 750 kgs of VGF rice from a building named Hazi Villa under Char Manika Bazar of Charfassion Upazila of the district on Sunday. The rice was allocated for rehabilitation of the fishermen under Char Manika union. Police arrested Kabir Hossain, an orderly of the union from the spot. Tarikul Islam, Assistant Sub-Inspector of South Aicha Police Station under Charfassion, said he conduct the drive at around 5 pm on Sunday and found the rice in 15 sacks (50 kgs in a sack) at the down stair of Hazi Villa beside the Union Parishad building. Fish-cat beaten to death in Bhola

Local people killed a fish-cat, the species under threats of extinctions, at Boiragir Pol area under Shamvupur union in Tajumuddin upazila of Bhola district. Md. Ruhul Amin, Bhola divisional forest officer in charge of conservation of animal and biodiversity, said he heard about the incident on Sunday afternoon. The fish-cat after chasing by local stray dogs climbed on a tree to save life, but the villagers catching that animal beaten to death on Saturday early morning, the forest official said. Dead body of house wife recovered at Lalmohon of Bhola

Police on Tuesday noon recovered dead body of Parvin Begum, 26, wife of waste goods trader Arzu Mia, from her kitchen-floor ward-2 of Dholigournagor union under Lalmohon upazila of Bhola district. Local people said Parvin and Arzu, the couple married since last 11 years and parents of 3 children, engaged in altercation at morning and then Parvin went to Kitchen for cooking. At about 12:00 noon Arzu creating hue and cry claimed that his wife Parvin committed suicide by hanging her self from ceiling. AL backed candidates bagged all of three upazila in all of chairman, male vice-chairman and female vice chairman posts in Monpura, Daulatkha and Tajunuddin upazilas. Seven-month ban on passenger vessel service on risky routes starts

The seven-month-long restriction on plying of passenger carrying water transports, including launches and trawlers, on risky four routes touching 26 stations in the danger zone of Meghna River estuary and coastal areas becomes effective from early Saturday, March 15. Sources said out of 26 stations, BIWTC arranged sea truck services only for 6 major stations on four coastal routes. The river isolated peoples of other 20 stations and huge number of unmarked temporary stations in Bhola, Barguna, Patuakhali, Pirojpur, Noakhali, Laxmipur, Chittagong districts have to travel on unapproved small water transports like trawlers, engine and country boats...

Lalmohon upazila: AL-backed candidates win

Awami League nominated candidate Giasuddin Ahmed with Ananas symbol won the chairman post receiving 75,933 votes in Lalmohon upazila parishad election under Bhola district. His nearest rival BNP backed candidate Shafiqul Islam Babul with Cup-Plate symbol received 6,200 votes. Total about 46 percent out of 1,80,518 voters cast their votes at 67 vote centers, said Abu Sayed, additional deputy commissioner and returning officer and Zakir Hossain , Lalmohon upazila nirbahi officer and assistant returning officer.
