Police on Saturday arrested rest three of the five accused from Patuakhali and Jhalakathi for torturing teenage Ripa Aktar in Barisal. Shahadat Hossain Mithu, torturer boyfriend, arrested from Patuakhali, Shamsu alias Masum Hawlader and Rafiq Akand, associates of Mithu, arrested from Nalcity of Jhalakathi districts on Saturday as accused in the case lodged by the victim. Unidentified miscreants on Saturday damaged idols in a Durga Puja temple of Hindu community at Kawmia area of Barisal divisional city. Bikash Haldar, secretary of Aparajita Kunja Durga Puja Mandir, said electricians of the Mandir when went at the temple on Saturday afternoon for decoration of the temple, found that hands of the idols of Durga and Ganesh and head of Kartik were damaged and broken. BIWTC to start 14-day special Puja-Eid services for home bound passengers with six vessels from Wednesday

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) will start 14-day special steamer services from Wednesday October 1 from Dhaka-end on occasion of upcoming Durga Puja and Eid Ul Azha festivals with six vessels. Human chain, agitation procession

Right activists on Thursday morning organized human chain, agitation procession and handed over memorandum in Barisal protesting torturing teenage Ripa Aktar by boyfriend and his family members on Monday night to Tuesday morning by chaining in front of their home. The victim was sent to shelter home after recording judicial statement of the victim on Thursday noon. Fishermen held human chain rally in front of Barisal DC office

Marginal fishermen held human chain rally in front of Barisal deputy commissioner’s office on Wednesday morning to press home their 6-point demands including hard step for preventing piracy.
